A Little About Us

About Kathy:
I’m a gal that likes to go places. Raised in the suburbs of New York, I head west to San Francisco in 1989 to explore, find community, and find myself. After 18 years, I’m heading west and out on the frontier again, this time with my partner Bruce, to enlarge my community and expand my ‘self’.I’ve worked in the Investment Management industry for almost 20 years – a handful of those as a portfolio manager and the last nine as an I.T. Project Manager & Business Analyst. From 2000 – 2005, I also owned and operated a three-unit vacation rental on the north shore of Kauai.

I like to run things, make decisions, and collaborate on small-scale projects. I like to be in charge – of my day, of my job, of my life. I like to help others. I like to smile, laugh, and have fun. I’m a seeker & explorer. I love to be outside. I have a dream for living a much more wholesome and compassionate life style; I want to blend business and beauty; New Zealand just may be the place to realize my desires.

About Bruce:
I’m the guy my friends call the mad-scientist and the cleric. I grew up in the mid-west, spent a number of years on the east coast and finally landed in this most beautiful city, San Francisco, in 1992. I like it here but it’s time to move on.

I’m a thinker and a ponderer. I like to design, scheme, mix, and grow things. I’m in to living a healthy lifestyle and like to exercise — somatics and nei gong are my thing. I’m into Burning Man and I like to make tansegrity structures. I brew beer among other things. I like to dance and play board games. I’m generally a laid back guy and I like to spend time with friends. I consider myself a geo-political investor and I worry about the state of our country. I think it’s a good time to get out.

I’ve careered as a University on-line teacher, a database programmer, and for the last nine years, I’ve dabbled in real estate in San Francisco. I like to find a niche and fill it. I think there’ll be some niche opportunities in New Zealand and I think it’ll be a safe place to be in the upcoming decades. I’m so there. (ok, those of you that know Bruce know that this is not necessarily his voice. Kathy’s ghostwritten this for him, but he says it’s ok as he’s too busy to write right now)
